Heimat: A Sense of Belonging

May 5, 2020 – July 31, 2021
Via Bergognone, 40, 20144 Milano MI, Italy

“The photographer, even in fashion and portraiture, has to have a standpoint,” said the German lensman Peter Lindbergh, who died in 2019 at the age of 74. “Most people just take pictures, but they stand for nothing. They follow trends and don’t know why.” Famous for his unadorned images in black and white, Lindbergh captured female grace and personality in a way that feels timeless. In a rare exhibition, works both published and unpublished are on view. —E.C.
