In the art of Haegue Yang, mundane household objects are transformed into meticulously executed sculptures and immersive installations. Sound, light, air, and fragrance are also part of the Yang experience, adding emotional and cultural dimension. For this exhibition, Yang created a series of collages out of hanji, a Korean paper which comes from the inner bark of a mulberry tree. She hangs these sheets from the gallery’s ceiling, a reference to Korean shamanistic traditions. Alongside 16 of her “Mesmerising Mesh” pieces, there are two large Sonic sculptures, woven out of bells and metal rings. —Elena Clavarino
