The Argentinian artist Guillermo Kuitca had his first solo exhibition at age of 13, at the Galeria Lirolay in Buenos Aires. Since then, the artist’s paintings have been exhibited all over the world, at museums such as MoMA and at the Venice Biennale. Kuitca coined the term cubistoid to describe his distinctive style, which combines the geometric elements of Cubism with motifs of maps and blueprints. In his latest series, Kuitca, now 62, for the first time introduces landscapes into his paintings, superimposing hand-drawn house plans upon grand vistas. A recurring focus on the bedroom adds a fascinating psychological layer to the series, as does the resemblance between the painted landscapes and the artist’s native Argentina. —Paulina Prosnitz
