The British artist Grayson Perry calls himself the “transvestite potter.” In fact, he is a cross-dresser who has invented a female alter-ego—Claire. Together, Grayson and Claire critique British culture, society, and style. They also create ceramic vessels and tapestries, art that sees vibrant color and sharp humor addressing even the most solemn of subjects. Last year, Perry won the Erasmus prize. This exhibition presents paintings, vessels, and objects. There’s even “Claire’s Coming Out Dress” from 2000, yellow adorned with paisley pink. —Elena Clavarino
