Goo Goo Dolls are an incredible rock band. Formed and based in Buffalo, New York, they’re responsible for the super-hit “Iris”—which may be one of the most well-known songs in the world. I can’t imagine a place where that song comes on and most people in the room don’t start singing along. Beyond this chart-topper, they have loads of other successful, wonderful tracks, and have managed to stay relevant and consistent in the musical world. The group’s ability to make raw emotion tangible sets them apart from many other bands today. They have a new EP out this year, Summer Anthem, as well as the 30th anniversary deluxe edition of their 1995 album, A Boy Named Goo. A night with them at Beacon Theatre should be cool. —Henry McGrath
