Fashion runs in the family of Irish designer Simone Rocha. Her father, John Rocha, is the man behind the Chinatown brand, and she always felt it was “inevitable” that she’d follow in his footsteps. Young Rocha’s designs for women have a feminist edge. She adorns black coats with spider webs and cuts harshly shaped boots. Curating this exhibition, Rocha explored her kind of femininity. “It just felt natural,” Rocha recently told Vogue. “I was really enamored with the fact that all of these artists had this very particular female point of view but in a way that wasn’t soft or saccharine.” The show presents work from different generations, and includes artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Cindy Sherman, Roni Horn, Luo Yang, and Sophie Barber. —Elena Clavarino
