In 2009, inspired by the structure of Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues, childhood friends Jeremy Dyson, a screenwriter and author, and Andy Nyman, a director and actor, decided to write a horror play. Like Ensler’s hit, their show, Ghost Stories, revolves around three people talking onstage—about ghosts, not sex. The three are being interviewed by a professor of parapsychology who’s doing research on supernatural experiences. Ghost Stories premiered in Liverpool in 2010 and was an immediate success. From there it went to the West End, then traveled to Australia, Russia, Peru, and China. Through the end of the month, the show is in Melbourne. —Jensen Davis
