Over the last 20 years, Francesc Ruiz has explored themes of urbanism, psychogeography, and queer space by producing comic-book installations that draw from comic-book culture around the world. For his first museum retrospective, street kiosks inspired by those found in Philadelphia and Cairo are refashioned with the Ruiz emphasis on sexual liberation and imagery that creates crypto-alliances. —E.C.
In conjunction with this retrospective, a simultaneous exhibition of Ruiz’s works is on at Galeria Garcia, a few minutes away.
