The late Swedish photographer Lars Tunbjörk drew inspiration from American artists, so it’s fitting that his work has been chosen for the inaugural exhibition of Fotografiska, a Swedish for-profit museum that’s establishing a foothold in New York City—in a six-story historical landmark in the Flatiron district. Since opening in Stockholm in 2010, the museum has showcased well-known photographers such as David LaChapelle and Annie Leibovitz, along with lesser-known talents like the Chinese photographer Ren Hang. The New York location hopes to do the same. It also features a cafe, a bookstore, and a private event space. —J.V.
