Among diverse works of performance, theater, music, art, cinema, and dance, especially important—because the Merce Cunningham Dance Company is no more—is the Festival’s series “Portrait Merce Cunningham.” Nine different programs involving multiple companies put these princes of postmodernism—Cunningham and his partner John Cage—before the viewer.
