If you ever watched The Golden Girls, I’ll bet you remember Blanche Devereaux’s great sunglasses. I certainly do. Which is why I was excited to discover that they will soon be for sale at “Fashion Forward,” an exhibition celebrating “the fashion arts.” The show blends past and present, featuring paintings and drawings by acclaimed designers such as Pierre Balmain and Christian Lacroix alongside contemporary textiles and garments. “Fashion Forward” also exhibits items worn by individuals such as Josephine Baker and David Hockney. For those who will never get enough of Audrey Hepburn, Givenchy’s drawing of his “little black dress” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is on view. Alexander McQueen, Maria Callas, Salvador Dalí, and Andy Warhol are featured as well, creating a mix that only makes sense within the eclectic and theatrical context of fashion. And to make things more exciting, everything is for sale. —Jeanne Malle
