From A for Argonaut Theatre (“The final hour of 1999. Two bickering sisters flee a party …”) to Z for The Zed Word (“The world is ending. The dead are roaming. . . .”), there are over 400 shows/acts/performances to choose from at this year’s Festival Fringe, billed as “the world’s greatest platform for creative freedom.” Chosen at random: The Private Lives of Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence (they’re in purgatory and the audience decides whether they deserve Heaven or Hell). Heaven, of course. —L.J.
