Donizetti’s comic masterpiece, touched with poignance. This is a new production, but the treat is the man singing the title role, bass-baritone Bryn Terfel. He has a nimble comic talent we don’t see as much as we used to (in the days when he sang a lot of Mozart). —L.J.
