Playwright Simon Stephens and songwriter Mark Eitzel have worked together since 2010, the year their first joint production, Marine Parade, a musical set at the seaside, premiered at Brighton Festival. Five years later, their quiet monologue of a show, Song From Far Away, premiered at London’s Young Vic to much acclaim. This January, their third project, Cornelia Street, premieres at the Atlantic Theatre, in New York City. The show centers on Jacob Towney (the wonderful Norbert Leo Butz), a long-time West Village resident desperate to save a local restaurant. Neil Pepe, the artistic director of the Atlantic Theatre, helms the production. —Jensen Davis
