One of world’s renowned installation artists, Cerith Wyn Evans is a master of controlled chaos and surprising illumination. He transmutes shape, text, code, and sound into white-hot bands of dazzling light. At White Cube he has conceived a “vernacular temple” inspired by key moments of Modernism. Evans nods to Lucio Fontana’s austere Concetto spaziale aesthetic and Frank Stella’s iconic “Black Paintings.” Meanwhile his neon sculptures, panels, and hanging glass distort sound and perception, creating an immersive experience. —Elena Clavarino
