Camille Henrot: Mother Tongue

Apr 18 – Aug 8, 2021
Goseriede 11, 30159 Hannover, Germany

How to find a balance within chaos? The award-winning French artist Camille Henrot confronts this existential question through a series of drawings, paintings, frescos, and bronze sculptures. Henrot, who once chose the phrase “Is it possible to be revolutionary and still like flowers?” for one of her projects, says it was another way of asking, “Why should formal elegance and a basis in theory be opposed?” Henrot’s work is both—theoretical and elegant. —E.C.
