Can a room be a muse? Fascinated by the light of Los Angeles and its play within her work space, Caitlin Lonegan has sought to capture the phenomenon on canvas. The paintings in this series are about perception and prismatic effects, the way light falls and moves. Some of the paintings took up to two years to complete. Some are so big they exceed Lonegan’s height and arm span, and others are small. The exhibition keeps the two sizes separate, so that viewers can experience the differences between the intimate and the expansive. —Clara Molot
