Billy Corgan, the talented guitarist, singer, songwriter, and lead man of that world-famous decade-defining alt-rock band Smashing Pumpkins, is hosting a unique set of listening experiences with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Thirty years ago, Smashing Pumpkins released its massively successful and critically acclaimed double album, Mellon Collie And Infinite Sadness. The Chicago shows, November 21 through 30, celebrate this anniversary. Corgan will be teaming up with the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s orchestra, chorus, and operatic soloists to give us a new interpretation of the project. —Henry McGrath
