In the past few years there’s been no shortage of splashy new music documentaries, among them, Joan Baez: I Am a Noise; The Beatles: Get Back; Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band; and, of course, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Each of these films is worth watching whether or not you’re a fan of its subject, and the same is true for the latest addition to the list, Becoming Led Zeppelin. Directed by Bernard MacMahon, this biographical documentary is the first in which Led Zeppelin has agreed to participate. That means the film uses never-before-seen archival footage as it traces the band’s shockingly swift rise, at the end of the 1960s, to superstardom. Robert Plant’s bellbottoms seem a bit outdated, but the music rocks on. —Jack Sullivan
