This year’s four-day long Artexpo arrives at a new location: Pier 36, on Manhattan’s East River. Over 40 years old, the fair includes 400 international exhibitors—from art publishers, to galleries, to emerging and well-established artists. The first day of the fair—Thursday, October 28—is reserved for trade only (think designers, art industry professionals, dealers, gallerists). Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are open to the public. The fair features hundreds of rising contemporary artists, names like Tangeline, Erik Jensen, Jackie Fuchs, and Anna Jast. Festivities include Art Labs (projects curated by leading institutions), Spotlight Programs (curators pointing out upcoming and inventive artists), and seminars hosted by the art world’s in-the-know professionals. Abiding by New York’s coronavirus restrictions, ticket entries are timed and masks are mandatory. —J.D.
