Armageddon

May 28, 2020 – Sept 20, 2021
519 W 24th St, New York, NY 10011, United States

It’s human nature to cling to the illusion that our species is immortal and that our imprint on this earth will last forever. So perhaps that’s why in movies, the end of the world comes with the destruction of cultural relics: aliens blow up the White House, a meteor crashes into Paris. In the online viewing room “Armageddon,” the artists Oliver Laric, Louise Lawler, and Sara VanDerBeek—all of whom use historical sculpture in their art—offer works that reflect on the recent pandemic. —E.C.
