Appearance Stripped Bare: Desire and the Object in the Work of Marcel Duchamp and Jeff Koons, Even

May 19 – Sept 29, 2019
Blvd. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 303, Granada, 11520 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

The show’s description is pretty heavy on academic jargon (“economies of desire,” “definitions of subjectivity”), but its juxtaposition of Marcel Duchamp, father of conceptual art, and Jeff Koons, who keeps reinventing the golden calf, should be fascinating, a tennis game played across time (think of the mimed match in Blow-Up). —L.J.
