After an eight-year absence, the flamenco legend Sara Baras returns to the Kennedy Center. Her latest show, Alma, blends classic boleros—sharp turns, stomps, and pauses, an arm arched overhead—with contemporary flamenco techniques. “I used to try to impress with greater speed or the most complicated turns,” said Baras in an interview. “But now I think you can have the same intensity just by standing still and being quiet.
