If you’ve been at a silent retreat with no cell service, you may have missed Susan Dell. As the rest of us know, the billionaire philanthropist and MAGA fan has been all over social media—transformed into a Halloween costume, dancing in an A.I. “Thriller” video, and analyzed by countless plastic surgeons. One guessed she had a brow lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, cheek and lip fillers, a lower facelift, Botox, and buccal fat removal; another chalked it all up to extreme fat loss; another decided makeup was the problem. Doctors are offering suggestions about how to fix what apparently went so terribly wrong, but no matter. She’s become plastic surgery’s cautionary tale.
For many of us—and, yes, it’s personal—this is exactly why we haven’t plunked down six figures for cosmetic surgery. We want to look younger, not crazier. Give us anything, but spare us the knife.
