How long have you been sitting down? According to a new study, you need a five-minute “movement break” every hour to avoid fatigue, prevent low mood and to offset sitting’s side-effects, which include a raised risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer.
Better still, get up and move every half an hour, researchers from Columbia University in New York and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland have recommended, as reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
