With Milan Fashion Week in full swing, the talk of the town has not been the runway shows but, rather, “Sei riuscita a prenotare?” (Have you managed to get a table?)
The New York restaurant Indochine opens on Tuesday in the Giorgio Armani–owned building in the heart of Brera, where the Emporio Armani Ristorante used to be. An orange neon sign burns into the night outside. The Milan location resembles the original—most notably, with its banana-leaf wallpaper and extravagant floral arrangements—but pairs them with some distinctly Giorgio Armani minimalist furniture. The menu, too, has made the journey across the Atlantic, with Indochine classics such as spicy beef salad, salt-and-pepper shrimp, and Vietnamese barbecue chicken.
