To quote Britney Spears’s “Circus,” there are only two types of people in the world: “the ones that entertain and the ones that observe.” So it was for years at fashion shows, where that divide had a clear demarcation between the catwalk and the front row. But last Saturday, Gucci’s Cruise 2027 show blurred that long-standing distinction, inviting some of haute couture’s most recognizable spectators—D.J. Paris Hilton, Love Story star Dree Hemingway, socialite Sabine Getty, designer Athena Calderone, and art dealer Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn—to take their runway turns alongside veteran supermodel Cindy Crawford. Now the ladies who walked the walk are talking the talk about the whirlwind lead-up to the show.
ON PREP
CINDY CRAWFORD: “I told my trainer to focus on triceps and shoulders.”
SABINE GETTY: “I took a movement class and promptly broke my toe strutting in viciously high heels! From then onwards I iced it every day, did no practice, and hoped I’d break through on the day.”
Paris Hilton: “Spending a few days back in the city walking around, shopping, and seeing friends naturally shaped the energy and confidence of the walk … and going brunette.”
Dree Hemingway: “[I] prayed to the runway gods.”
