For a publication as elegant and sophisticated as Air Mail, its lack of a dedicated style section has always surprised me. Well, those days are officially over, and I am so incredibly excited to be bringing this section to life with Dress Code. Every Thursday afternoon going forward, Air Mail subscribers can sign up to read dispatches from the worlds of fashion and style by some of the industry’s most vibrant voices, from the inimitable Lynn Yaeger—who has graciously signed on to be Dress Code’s jewelry correspondent—to the ever chic Alessandra Codinha and Bridget Foley. We’ll introduce you to all the designers, muses, collectors, and creative directors you need to know, and none of the ones you don’t. And I’ll share what I’m eyeing—from shoes to bags, homeware to new store openings—every week.
This first issue is dedicated to change-makers. A particular kind of figure in fashion: not simply talented but uncommonly self-directed. Edward Enninful, who expanded his influence from stylist and editor to founder with EE72. Tom Ford, who crossed from fashion into film without losing an ounce of authority. Jonathan Anderson, whose show last night at LACMA’s David Geffen Galleries has made Dior a cultural conversation. Ana Khouri, a jewelry designer who has quietly conquered the art world. And Lawren Howell, whose new store is less a shop than an ode to things that last.
