In the months since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, amid destruction and mass death, the country’s leading women artists have continued to create paintings, sculpture, and installations that address Ukraine’s terrifying new reality. This exhibition places art by these women center stage. Some of the works date from 2014, after the annexation of Crimea and the creation of “republics” in Donbas, and others were completed in the last few months, as bombs fell and lives were forever changed. —Elena Clavarino
