Too political. Not political enough. Inclusive to a fault. Not inclusive enough. The Whitney Biennial, which the curators describe as “a snapshot of art in the United States at a particular moment,” has also been called “the American art world’s most-argued-about event.” It is an important event. So go to the show, keep Aesop in mind (The Miller, His Son, & the Ass), and argue. —L.J.
