We Interrupt This Broadcast

Do you remember where you were when President Kennedy was assassinated? Or when Princess Diana suffered that fatal car crash? Or when the 767 hit the first Twin Tower? We Interrupt This Broadcast—created by Joe Garner, author of a bestselling 1998 book of the same name; hosted by longtime broadcaster Bill Kurtis; and narrated and executive-produced by NBC’s Brian Williams—revisits the news reporting of history’s seismic events with new interviews and never-before-heard recordings. “None of us lucky enough to have these anchor jobs got into the business for the perfectly average Tuesday in August,” Williams said in a recent interview. Though he has “nothing against Tuesdays in August,” the unaverage stuff is what he’s after. It’s also what makes this podcast so thrilling. —J.V.
