The Arts Intel Report

Verbier Art Summit

Good news for those who can’t book it to Switzerland: the sixth annual Verbier Art Summit will be entirely virtual. The two-day event includes interactive talks, debates, and live Q&As that explore ecological transformations in the art world—and the world at large. The festivities begin with “Size Matters,” a series of talks about the growth of museums. Led by Beatrix Ruf, the Summit’s director, speakers include the artist Torkwase Dyson and Professor Louise O. Fresco, the assistant director-general of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. After that, Olinda Tupinambá, an Indigenous filmmaker, journalist, and activist, will discuss the role of art in ecological activism with Ailton Krenak, an Indigenous leader. The Summit is free, but registration is required. —J.D.
