Trisha Baga: The Eye, the Eye and the Ear

June 25, 2020 – Jan 10, 2021
Via Chiese, 2, 20126 Milano MI, Italy

“The title of the show refers to a recurring narrative that’s in all of the work,” explains installation artist Trisha Baga, “which I think of as a Frankenstein narrative—like the fragmentation of body parts coming together to create a composite of a new organism.” In her videos, Baga collages and layers film fragments in an attempt to both beguile and stymie the senses. She stresses that the videos are open-ended. “Their narrative changes depending on the viewer and the experiences they bring with them.” This exhibition features five video installations, six pieces from Baga’s series “Seed Paintings,” and works in ceramic. All speak of the complex relationship between the body and image technology. —E.C.
