From the 15th to the 19th century, the princely Torlonia family amassed a collection of 620 cataloged works of art. Ancient busts, reliefs, statues, sarcophagi, and decorative elements comprise something of a Torlonia family narrative. They also tell the story of a private collection and its migration into museums and institutions. To celebrate the opening of the restored Musei Capitolini at Palazzo Caffarelli, 98 Torlonia masterpieces are on view. —E.C.
