The eerie yet hilarious first season of The White Lotus featured cutting dialogue, insufferable characters, and intrigue with plenty of twists and turns. In Season Two, The White Lotus is set in Taormina, Sicily, at the historic San Domenico Palace. A few minutes in, a pretty blonde finds a drowned body in the sea, just a few yards away from the resort’s beachfront. Then, as in Season One, there’s a rewind back to when it all began. The cast is new, with the exception of our favorite Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) and her now husband, Greg, who disappears every so often for mysterious phone calls. The other arrivals aren’t serene, either. Two couples, double-dating the trip, can’t seem to stand each other. McQuoid’s assistant mopes around the hotel teary-eyed. A few doors down, a grandfather, father, and son bicker constantly. With this setup, Mike White promises to deliver as much comedy in Season Two as he did the last time around. —Elena Clavarino
