Australia’s population includes more than 250 Indigenous nations, who have deep roots in the mainland and associated islands, excluding the Torres Strait Islands. This exhibition at the National Gallery of Art explores the last 200 years of Indigenous creativity, and includes the work of more than 130 artists. Expect to see the superstars: Emily Kan Kngwarray, for instance, and Gulumbu Yunupiŋ—also known as “Star Lady,” her name inspired the show’s title. —Hannah Gross
