Back in 1972, the promising young ballerina Karen Kain was handpicked by Rudolf Nureyev to dance Aurora in his production of The Sleeping Beauty. Today, as artistic director of the National Ballet of Canada, she has restaged the production, keeping Rudi’s vision of Marius Petipa’s classic front and center. —L.J.
