The inaugural exhibition at Sean Kelly in Los Angeles embraces the artist Idris Khan in all his versatility. Known for his black-and-white photographs, Khan first experimented with color in his 2019 show “Blue Rhythms,” at Sean Kelly in New York. His latest body of work further explores the depth and emotional resonance of blue, and also uses musical notation and text as a way to suggest life’s infinite, reverberating rhythm. In his large-scale paintings, bronze sculptures, and photography, Khan draws inspiration from a diverse array of cultural and spiritual sources: sheet music, literature, the Quran. —Nyla Gilstrap
