Dustin Yellin is known for huge glass sculptures made of minute images—pictures cut from all kinds of sources (with cuticle scissors one imagines)—and laid on large glass panes that are then fused together to create depth and mystery. The result is a crystalline realm both dimensional and holographic, a pictorial place with a visible subconscious. Politics of Eternity (2020), the work for which this exhibition is named, looks like seven vertical aquariums that encase miniature environments. Yellin’s sculptures are ingenious and enchanting, but he is also a painter, and the exhibition showcases collage-and-acrylic works on canvas. In Yellin’s oeuvre, images from art, history, and science meet the human circuitry of memory, emotion, and desire. —Laura Jacobs
