The growing Christmas tree. The dancing snowflakes. The Sugar Plum Fairy. For those who can’t live without an annual in-person fix of The Nutcracker, the Royal Ballet is presenting Peter Wright’s production of 1984, complete with a newly choreographed battle scene between the mice and the toy soldiers! The ballet has been reworked to be coronavirus-safe, and tickets will be allocated in pairs, threes, and fours for those who attend with their household or support bubble (there are some single tickets and groups up to five or six). —L.J.
