Finding yourself locked out your hotel room, dressed only in a bathrobe, is a bad dream ripe for analysis. But for two total strangers, Nora and Dean, it’s a fact. Nora—who left her room in the middle of the night to get ice—now finds herself listening to Dean’s marital qualms. On the sixth-floor hallway of a Marriott Hotel, quarreling and trading insults, the two find comfort in each other’s company. A new play from Bill Keenan, the author and former AIR MAIL C.O.O., The Hallway captures one of those ephemeral connections we’ve all experienced—the mysterious transformation of strangers into confidants. Before landing at the PIT MainStage on July 9, The Hallway debuts over the holiday weekend as part of the Midtown Theater Festival. —Maggie Turner
