The French Dispatch

Streaming on Various venues

The distinct colors. The fast-moving camera shots. The oddball characters. All the Wes Anderson signatures are alive in the filmmaker’s latest, The French Dispatch, his love letter to classic magazines like The New Yorker. Featuring Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Anjelica Huston, plus stars Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Léa Seydoux, and Timothée Chalamet, the film centers on the French bureau of a Kansas publication, the staff racing to finish its final issue upon the death of its editor. A crazed, imprisoned artist and a brazen kidnapping comprise a few of the film’s lively storylines. —Jacob Robbins
