Teresa Lanceta’s abstract works weave together the cultures of the Romani peoples, Moroccan nomads, Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood, and the Atlas mountains. Born in Barcelona in 1951, the artist has transformed craft into art. Her textile work is both rhythmic and structured, her tapestries featuring geometric shapes with tribal inflections. Lanceta pays homage to the tradition of weaving while manipulating the medium to incorporate her personal experience. This exhibition presents a comprehensive survey of her artistic development from the 1970s up to the present, and showcases her solo works as well as her collaborations with contemporaries such as Olga Diego and Pedro G. Romero. —Thalia Bonas
