These days, plays don’t tend to be written for a particular actor or actress. Sea Wall, however, was written for Andrew Scott by the Tony Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens. And it will then be turned into a feature film, directed by Tina Satter, that captures Scott’s performances from various vantage points onstage and in the theater, with each night’s audience playing an individual role in the production. It doesn’t get more meta than that. Studio Seaview, where the one-of-a-kind work (and eventual film) is playing, is a new Off Broadway venue for artist-led work in New York City’s Theater District. —Clara Scholl
