Big musical artists doing underplays has grown in popularity. Sam Smith’s upcoming residency at Warsaw, where he’s holding court October through December, is a perfect example. “New York has become a second home to me in the past few years, so playing intimate shows at a venue as beautiful as the Warsaw will be a really special experience,” the British singer-songwriter wrote on Instagram. He released a new single, “To Be Free,” a little over a month ago as well as a live album called BBC Proms At The Royal Albert Hall earlier in the summer. With plenty of new music out and several dates on the books, Warsaw will be a busy spot as the year winds down. —Henry McGrath
