After last year’s quieter edition in June, the Salone del Mobile is returning to Milan in earnest for the first time since the pandemic struck. It’s the most anticipated event of the year, and 2,000 exhibitors are flocking to the city to showcase the latest in furniture design. This year’s theme is “City of Lights?”: and participants include 550 young designers (under the age of 35). Highlights include the return of Euroluce, the event dedicated to lighting design, which had taken a four year hiatus. There’s even a talk by the veteran designer Gaetano Pesce, which will take place on April 18. After you’ve seen the fair itself, the fuorisalone (the fair’s satelite events) includes exciting shows at Nilufar gallery, Alcova, Dimoregallery and the renowned Rosanna Orlandi– but there’s exciting events dotting the entire city. —Elena Clavarino
