Roald Dahl's Matilda

Aug 5–11, 2019
1 Theatre Dr, St. Louis, MO 63112, USA

It’s about “a small girl who can move things with her eyes,” Roald Dahl wrote of Matilda, his book of 1988, “and about a terrible headmistress who lifts small children up by their hair and hangs them out of upstairs windows by one ear.” In other words, Dahl channels Dickens, but with a telekinetic twist. The 2011 musical, developed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, should look magical on the outdoor, under-old-oaks Muny stage. —L.J.
