This time, the young Ayo Edebiri and the seasoned Don Cheadle make their Broadway debuts in David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play, Proof. Edebiri stars as Catherine, the daughter of Robert (Cheadle), a brilliant, recently deceased mathematician whose pioneering theory about prime numbers is discovered in an old notebook. But can Catherine, who is as intelligent and perhaps as mentally ill as her father, prove the proof’s authorship? Thomas Kail directs. —Jeanne Malle
