The Parisian couple Claude and Françoise-Xavier Lalanne called themselves “Les Lalanne.” They came to prominence in the 1960s—together!—but they created work separately, both looking to nature for inspiration. Over the years, Les Lalanne produced elephants, donkeys, rabbits, bears, and ducks that doubled as small tables, desks, bathtubs, chairs, and stools. Their stylized furniture found its way into hundreds of famous Parisian homes, and quickly propelled the eccentric duo to stardom. Françoise died in 2008, Claude in 2019. This exhibition, which features more than 150 works, is the largest show on the couple in Italy to date. —Elena Clavarino
