Pine's Eye

June 25 – Aug 30, 2020
University of Edinburgh, The University of, South Bridge, Edinburgh EH8 9YL, United Kingdom

“Pine’s eye” in Italian translates to “Pinocchio.” Most are familiar with the mischievous character, who tells lies despite the fact that his nose grows longer with every untruth. The same long nose attaches to the world’s environmental crisis. Humans continue to act recklessly even in the face of undeniable evidence, and we do this because we are lying to ourselves. In this exhibition, artists of international renown and from indigenous groups have been invited to address the situation. Firelei Báez, Laurent Grasso, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, Lois Weinberger, and Haegue Yang are among those present. —E.C.
